Rather than relying on their aura to sell us the same old technology of touch QWERTY + predictive text (which doesn’t work, especially when you try inputting made up, foreign, jargon, or abbreviated words) apple should get on board with innovative companies like www.exideas.com They have the technology to save this high risk roll!

Currently at the UPA conference and spoke to a person today from a Mobile carrier and we were talking about the iphone.

I said that the keyboard will be one of the most important features of the phone in terms of uptake i.e. how well the keyboard performs.

He responded that its going to be better than the 3 tap approach used on most keypads today on phones to type.

Never thought of this perspective before. Be fun to try it out!

If the iPhone was a word processor I’d worry about the keyboard. Most of the interaction looks to be designed around not using the keyboard, so I think it’s fair to call the soft keyboard the interface of last resort.
