I found this blog by putting in yahoo search engine the words: UPS Hodgkins, IL? Your blog came up. This is a little bitty town , doesn’t even show on a map, in Illinois, some distance from Springfield. According to the search, there is NO UPS destination site for shipping in that area. I do believe that UPS just uses this weird little spot as an imaginary spot to stick their SCREW-UPS ,….hoping we’ll just accept that our package has truly been “RE-SCHEDULED” for delivery, and not that they sent it to the wrong place somewhere OUT THERE! I am disgusted that they would be so deceitful. I like this company and don’t believe it’s necessary to use subterfuge. I always say that “honesty is the best policy”! Works for ME! Whoever started this blog,…..thanks! I have now VENTED!

AMEN!
January 24th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
This is the place where my package is being reportedly delayed by a train derailment. thoughts to my self(why is my package on a train at all).Any rate this is what came up on the ups web tracking website..
January 25th, 2008 at 2:33 am
im in the same place as mark, have you looked at all the derailments that they have in this little ass town?
January 25th, 2008 at 5:58 pm
Wikipedia says that this out back town is home to a large UPS sorting facility. It stands to reason that the town is all brown, if it really is tiny. The derailment occurred in New York, you can watch it here:
http://www.clipsyndicate.com/publish/video/499170/train_derailment_update
Don’t worry, your viagra from Canada will be there faster than you can say; ‘Wood.’

My yracking destination read Hodgkins IN. Since I knew there was no such place I started to check it out and decided to see if they meant IL. and so I ran into all of you fellow wanderers. Now that we are all gathered here in HODGKINS IL. MAYBE WE SHOULD THROW A PARTY !!!!
June 13th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
Oh this is wonderful. Looks like I’ll be waiting awhile for my overstock.com purchase (officially listed as a weather incident delay). And my amazon.com shipment is being held hostage by some outfit called CEVA shipping. They won’t even answer the phone!
June 15th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
I looked up the destination when my package arrived and departed from the same place in two days. WOW! I feel like I just discovered a UPS cover-up! This is too weird.
June 16th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Stopped by to join the party! We’ve lost one of 6 packages in this little destination! My thought is they just got tired of lifting our boxes - they were full of bowling equipment on the way to the Nationals in Albuquerque! Good luck to everyone - perhaps the packages liked the Route 66 atmosphere?
June 18th, 2008 at 12:12 am
GOOD GRIEF! I was thinking that Hodgkins was probably a suburb to Chicaogo or St Louis given my package came from Kentucky and is on its way to KC. And now I find that it is stuck due to weather -that is pathetic!!
Guess from now on I’ll have to use Fed Ex!
June 19th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Well Well. I live in So IL and was awaiting a package. Tracker said Exception
See description below
ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS
So I thought what must have happened up there to cause such a problem? But I have searched and searched for adverse weather conditions somewhere on the route the package would have taken. I can’t find any. Is there where they ’say’ our package is when they just don’t want to drive the trucks? I will complain. I want them to provide proof of adverse weather since I cna’t find any. I will also tell the company that I ordered from that I will NEVER order from them again if they are going to ship UPS.
June 20th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
Yes, For 36 hours my package UPS and HODGKINS IL held hostage. OK I called No new scan. MY electronic package is being held adverse weather conditions for 36 hours explain that. I question UPS and no new scan, lets talk I’m sure the ups has alternate route they can use, 36 hours my package haS BEEN HELD HOSTAGE……
June 21st, 2008 at 12:37 am
Same story here. I am freaking out, since I am going for vacation next week and my brand new 600$ camera, as well as 1000$ Dell laptop are stuck in HODGKINS IL for 72 hours already, when they had to be already delivered to AZ. Any ideas what to do?
June 21st, 2008 at 10:18 am
Grrrr…I live in souther WI and there has been NO “ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS” anywhere in the area. It’s been 81 degrees and SUNNY! I guess maybe the UPS drivers in IL consider heat to be “ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS”. Now my package is stuck and I already waited a week for it.
June 24th, 2008 at 8:46 am
Apparently there is flooding in Hodgkins, IL. I called this number 7083874200 and they redirected me to this number 6309907839 which has a recording because they are sooooo overwelmed with phone calls due to the flooding.
June 24th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
There is a Hodgkins, IL - its near Burr Ridge and is a Chicago suburb. My package is in the same boat, and says adverse weather conditions also. Let me tell you, I live in Chicago and the weather has been perfect. My UPS driver said that it most likely means the package was damaged or lost and that they are just buying time unfortunately.
June 24th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
Oh, and PS - There is NO flooding in that area… fyi
June 25th, 2008 at 1:17 am
I ordered a guitar effects pedal on ebay, and a guitar gadget off of amazon. Both on different dates mind you. They are both stuck in Hogkins, IL. I live in central IL. Ever since my packages have arrived in Hogkins on the 23rd, it says adverse weather conditions. After reading what Julie has said, I am pretty pissed. You pay hundreds of dollars for merchandise that you’ll never see. What do they do if they lost it? Do they refund your money for the items lost plus shipping? How unreliable.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:05 pm
I am in the same boat as everyone above. My xbox 360 was shipped to Texas and on the way back (the day before i should’ve got it) the status on UPS.com says EXCEPTION, TRAIN DERAILMENT in Hodgkins, IL. And i thought “what are the chances of that”. i am so upset is this true or is UPS trying to cover for lost time?
June 25th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Well Dillon, apparently are 360’s are having a blast there. I was hoping to get my Xbox 360 back in time for this weekend, since I am going to be gone, and I HAVE TO SIGN FOR IT!!! Grrr, if they try to deliver it when i’m gone and they ship it back to Microsoft, ima gonna be PISSED!!! I only had it for a week before the RROD. >
June 26th, 2008 at 3:39 am
Just got my packages today. I guess it’s acceptable for them to be one day late, but I dunno.
June 27th, 2008 at 1:08 am
My package arrived in Hodgkins on the 24th, then 48 hours later I got the dreaded bad weather exception. Now, what should have taken 3 days will take 6. Arghhh
June 27th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
I gurss I’m stuck with everyone else. My package left NV on the 20th and has been stuck in Hodgkins since the 25th. Says “advers weather conditions”. This sucks.
June 27th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
Same thing. I’ve got an Epiphone Dot Guitar stuck there. Was supposed to be delivered yesterday, but has been stranded there since 1 PM yesterday.
June 27th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
I guess you can add another name to the list of UPS “lost” packages in some poor town of Hodgkins, IL. I ordered a Trek bike 9 days ago and for the last four days I have check and seen ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS. Not only that, but I few days ago I placed on order, different time, different place, different item, but same dreaded outcome, stuck in same bad luck town in IL. I guess I need to start using FedEx.
June 27th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
This really sucks. First UPS ships my package to the west instead of the east, and now it is stuck in friggin hogkins IL. No one is of any help. My son published his book and his first book signing is tomorrow with NO BOOKS!!!!!!!!!
June 27th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Crap, my package is stuck in Hodgkins since yesterday. It was supposed to be delivered today. I’m moving on Tuesday… so I hope it un-sticks itself quickly.
June 27th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
My package should have been delivered 3 days ago. What is going on down there? Flooding?
June 27th, 2008 at 5:36 pm
Cripes!
06/26/2008 3:15 P.M. ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS in Hodgkins IL for my package that started travelling EAST from California on June 23 and there were already Adverse Weather Conditions posted above in Hodgkins on and after June 13th, 2008 at 3:29 pm.
You’d think they’d try to avoid routing to their hub in Hodgkins.
June 27th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
I am expecting two packages, one shipped from the east coast passed thru Hodgkins on the morning of June 26th, arrived and departed. Second package shipped from the west coast arrived in Hodgkins on June 27th in the afternoon and I got the “adverse weather conditions” exception! I am located in the Midwest and I don’t think the weather became more “adverse” in the last 24 hours! It will be interesting to see how much the “adverse weather” delays my package!
June 27th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
No mention on the news about bad weather other than rain in Chicago. I will not accept failure to reimburse shipping charges without proof of a severe storm in the area.
June 27th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
I was expecting 3 packages today but sadly only 2 arrives. 3 package was my xbox 360, I check to see if they had change the day of the delivery but said Your package has experienced an exception(ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS ). I hope my Xbox 360 arrives tomorrow.
June 27th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Yep, same here, package was supposed to be delivered 6/24/08, the tracking shows that it left Hodgkins, IL, TWICE!!! but never reached the next shipping point. Just got off the phone with UPS and they couldn’t tell me anything more than it was being affected by the weather……If this was such a major problem than why don’t there own employees know anything about it? And why aren’t there major reports on the news about all this bad weather???? Customer service was absolutely worthless, wouldn’t help at all, just told me to keep an eye on it. Worthless I tell you. I’m glad my package was insured, that’s for sure.
June 27th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
hi, my item also hodgkins, from california, but according to ups , that its held up in california till its safe to drop in hodjkins., i dont know.
June 27th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
now, i know ups is lying, looked on the map, checked weather, hodgkins is fine, they 20 minutes from the house.
June 27th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Add another one to the list. I’ve been waiting for my package thats stuck in Hodkins since the 25th. I live in Chicago so I’m probably going to end up picking up the package but I don’t have a car or someone to take me and the package is pretty big. :(
June 27th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
sandra, dont go to pick up, unless you know its there, i think adverse weather means lost or delayed package.
June 27th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
Wow. I thought we were also in this. I think this is linked to the Chicago phenomenon. You know all planes get delayed there because of weather. With Hodgkins close by, whoknows. But, it seems like the Airlines and UPS would find an alternate hub.
JH
June 28th, 2008 at 1:14 am
The “adverse weather” delays are not actually in Chicago. There are major train lines in to the Chicago area that are flooded in MO.
Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe are backed up and UPS used those carriers to move packages arcross the country.
Check out this website http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2008/06/13/ap5116014.html
June 28th, 2008 at 10:35 am
Add me to the list. Have a cornet coming from Kansas. Left on 6/24 was to be here (Rochester, NY) on 6/27. It has been stuck in Hodgkins since 6/25. It is now 6/28.
Went to Dan’s Forbe’s link but it is dated 6/13. I don’t think that is affecting this week’s shipments because is states they expect to back in action by the first of the week (6/16).
All very mysterious!
Wendy
June 28th, 2008 at 5:40 pm
Wow. I knew I had a reason to be mad at UPS. I’ve been waiting for a package to leave there since the 24th. It should have arrived on the 25. Still not here (as of the 28)
June 28th, 2008 at 7:35 pm
My package(s), like Jake’s, has been held up in Hodgkins since June 24. It should have arrived here on June 25, 2008; it is now June 28.
June 28th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
Interesting that Mark says that UPS says that his package is reportedly being delayed because of a train derailment. UPS says that my package(s) are being delayed because of adverse weather conditions in Hodgkins.
June 29th, 2008 at 2:51 am
Add another to the list. Ordered a package weighing in at about 16 lbs. and it’s been supposively been stuck in Hodgkins, Ill since the 25th. It’s now the 29th. There hasn’t been any updates so far so we can only hope things sort themselves out. and I also hope it isn’t ‘lost’ or I’m out a couple hundo! poop!
June 29th, 2008 at 3:32 am
same boat
package is listed as adverse weather and stuck in hodgkins,
maybe they do have a problem or there is a glut in the conveyer line,
lets hope that monday brings better news??
June 29th, 2008 at 7:58 am
Same here. Package has been stuck there since June 24. The store then send a back-ordered item on June 26 and is stuck there also. If they do have a flood problem to begin with, why in the world would they send it through Hogkins again 2 days later.
June 30th, 2008 at 11:26 am
I have good news to report! My package tracking status changed to:
HODGKINS,
IL, US 06/29/2008 12:38 P.M. ARRIVAL SCAN
from:
HODGKINS,
IL, US 06/25/2008 10:00 P.M. ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS
June 30th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
Today my tracking status also changed from adverse weather conditions. The new stated reason for the delay is “Incorrect routing at UPS facility. The package was missorted at the hub. It has been rerouted to the correct destination site (resolution).” Translation: the delivery date has again been postponed, and the package(s) are still undelivered.
June 30th, 2008 at 2:00 pm
“Cheeeeeese” says that he/she hasn’t had any updates. It’s actually quite easy to go to the UPS website and fill out the fields to be sent daily updates on your package(s)’ location, expectation of delivery, and reasons for delay.
June 30th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
still haven’t received my package and it’s five days late. quite odd.
July 1st, 2008 at 9:04 am
Interesting that Wendy got an arrival scan on the 30th, today I got “adverse weather conditions.” I agree, if UPS knows there is a problem with this hub, the should route around it. I also think it’s rather odd that the package took 4 days to get from CA to IL. I was ready to accept the “adverse weather conditions” until I googled Hopkins, IL, to find out what the weather was like and stumbled across this site.
July 1st, 2008 at 11:50 am
My package is lost here as well! Just got off the phone with UPS and apparently there is terrible flooding in HODGKINS, IL! My package has been stuck there for 4 days!
July 1st, 2008 at 12:27 pm
Add my name to the list package was to be deliverd on the 27th stuck in Hodgkins, Il due to weather but when I check the weather report I do not see anything foe Hodgkins.
July 1st, 2008 at 1:53 pm
This is a joke I was just told sometime in my life time it would arrive that its stuck in a trailer in the flood. UPS is the WORST
July 1st, 2008 at 4:52 pm
Same thing. I paid for 2-3 day shipping and I’m on the 7th day and Hodgkins, Il is sayind adverse weather conditions. I’ve tried contacting UPS about this and I was hung up on once and the second time they said they didn’t have an answer for me and that I’d just have to be patient. I contacted my local news about this and sent them this weblink.
July 1st, 2008 at 8:45 pm
My UPS Package Progress…CURRENT STATUS: IN TRANSIT
July 01, 2008 3:00 PM HODGKINS, IN US ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS
June 27, 2008 4:26 PM HODGKINS, IN US DEPARTURE SCAN
July 1st, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Add me. I have two packages there as well.
July 2nd, 2008 at 8:40 am
Quick tidbit-
The Chicago Area Consolidation Hub (CACH) is a package sorting hub for United Parcel Service. Located approximately 15 miles (24 km) southwest of Chicago, the facility is so large it is in several municipalities, primarily Willow Springs, Illinois but also Hodgkins. It serves as a central sorting facility for packages traversing the country. Construction of the CACH facility began in November of 1991 at the site previously occupied by the GM Truck and Bus manufacturing plant. The facility has an area of 2,130,000 ft², and has a perimeter of 3.1 miles and employs over 8,000 people. Packages are only handled during loading and unloading - all sorting takes place through a complex system of conveyor belts and push paddles, utilizing high-speed cameras to read the destination from a smart label to sort a package to its outgoing trailer. While the facility does not service package cars the facility sorts approximately 1.6 million packages per day. UPS’s web tracking system used to list the CACH as “CACH, IL.” Since there is no city named Cach, this confused customers [citation needed], so UPS now lists the hub as “HODGKINS, IL”.
-Often a weather delay scan is not entered until the feeder is in-bounded to a full operational (non-weather effected) facility. Reason being UPS is then able to provide a rescheduled delivery date because the package has reached non-effected hub and should resume normal movement without further delay. Also, depending on the extent of the weather delay, the last event UPS wants is a bottle-neck at a facility that sorts a million+ packages a day. I know this doesn’t excuse UPS for the delays, but maybe it will better help the understanding of the scanning process.
July 2nd, 2008 at 9:51 am
I once again contacted UPS in regards to my package being in the same damn place for more than a week. Still no answers. UPS is a crappy company with crappy customer service. Fed-Ex and USPS are the only ways to go for now on.
July 2nd, 2008 at 9:53 am
I just got off the phone with a customer service rep at UPS. My package is still underwater in Hodgkins since 6/30. She has stated she’s starting to see more and more packages getting through, but it will take some time. Also she stated that they will not expedite any package deliveries based on their delay.
Fun.
July 2nd, 2008 at 12:32 pm
All…I know my name is annoyed…but I am mostly annoyed with all of you!! I have a package that has not been delivered yet and is from 6/24.
I don’t know if all of you have been stuck under a rock but as Dan said the trains carrying our packages travel across the country which means more than likely are not stuck in IL but somewhere west by the flooding.
Wendy, you are correct Dan’s link is from 6/16 but after the flooding stopped the tracks have to be clear for the trains to pass. Also, everyday in the media since then they have talked about a new levee braking somewhere in the country. Until these natural acts of GOD stop occuring I don’t believe any of you have any right to complain about UPS’s service. Unless you would like to drive cross country through flood waters higher that some houses and endanger your lives I would hope that you could be more understanding.
I too am upset about my package not arriving yet but, come-on be a little understanding!!
July 2nd, 2008 at 12:37 pm
Hey annoyed, you are not very smart are you? If what you say were true, why would UPS continue to send packages there and not re-route them so that they don’t get delayed and held up? I don’t know about you but if I owned UPS I would have enough sense to stop sending packages on a “train” that can’t move and find another way.
July 2nd, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Also, why did UPS charge me for 2-3 day delivery when they knew they couldn’t meet that deadline? I paid for 2-3 days and it’s been more than 2 weeks. Should they have charged me for 2-3 day delivery? NO. So there is NO understanding coming from me.
July 2nd, 2008 at 1:17 pm
Danny,
Thank you for proving to everyone on the world wide web that you are not intelligent enough to have a conversation without insulting someone elses opinion. You are very correct about not sending packages by train in that direction in they knew there was flooding but as Wendy pointed out the previous flooding was cleared up by 6/16 which is when UPS began sending packages this route again. Once the flooding got worse I was told they sent the packages down different tracks to get around it, BUT this takes extra time. It would be like you going from New York to Flordia but traveling to Wisconsin first. It takes time when you have to detour trains for the entire US. I agree with you that you sholuld have not been charged for 2-3 day if they knew it would not arrive in time…but I don’t believe UPS knew the flooding was going to get worse.
July 2nd, 2008 at 1:50 pm
Annoyed, you are telling me that after an entire month of dealing with this that UPS still can’t avoid it? Give me a break. Your argument is tired and is NO excuse for what is going on. We, the paying customer, are being lied to about what is going on from UPS. LYING, is that acceptable to you?
July 2nd, 2008 at 4:17 pm
OMG….I can’t believe I just found this blog! My package has been “stuck” in Hodgkins, IL for ohhhh I’d say over a week now. They kept telling me that there were delays due to the flooding going on but now I don’t know what to believe?? Should I just contact the shipper now and ask for my refrund? UPS had launched an investigation, but I don’t know what that will accomplish?
July 2nd, 2008 at 4:45 pm
Steffany, if you ask the bozo person posting under “Annoyed” they will tell you that you are just plain rude for being upset about your packaged not being received. They will also tell you that you have no right to be mad about it and you can’t blame anyone for you not receiving your goods.
July 2nd, 2008 at 6:36 pm
I have some personal good news to share. I had a small package that had a
Departure Scan Departed Redmond, WA at 3:06 AM 6/30/2008
Adverse Weather Conditions Hodgkins, IL at 5:00 PM 6/30/2008
Arrival Scan Horsham, PA at 5:02 PM 7/2/2008
Hope this is an indication that the log jam may be breaking up for your stuff as well. Good luck and good wishes.
July 2nd, 2008 at 6:41 pm
Sorry, there was a typo. The Redmond departure should read 6/26/2008
July 2nd, 2008 at 8:16 pm
i was in the same boat as everyone else here.
but i recieved my package today. . .here’s hoping everyone else recieves thier packages soon.
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:56 am
Just got an update that my package is out for delivery!! 2-3 days turned out to be 2 1/2 weeks. Atleast I’ll be receiving it today because I’m heading out of town this evening for the holidays. Good Luck to all and have a good weekend.
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:20 am
I’m in the same boat as everyone here…been waiting for my package since it was shipped on the 28th of last week. Now it’s stuck in Hodgkin’s due to adverse weather conditions. I was wondering, for those of you who finally received your packages, what was the average time (in days) it tool to receive them?
July 3rd, 2008 at 1:40 pm
welcome to the land of the lost. my package was scheduled for delivery 7/2. tracked it when it failed to show. last scan was commerce city co 7/2 (where it normally routes prior to delivery), then suddenly showed hodkins il - delayed for adverse weather conditions. ups customer service told me the package was indeed in hodgkins (not colorado) due to poor weather but couldn’t give any further details. package arrived this morning 7/3 to my place in wyoming. HODGKINS IS UPS CODE FOR “WE DON’T KNOW WHERE THE F**K YOUR PACKAGE IS BECAUSE WE LOST IT AND NEED TIME TO TRY TO FIND IT WITHOUT ADMITTING WE LOST IT.”
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:08 pm
WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO TYPE?
