I have not read the PDF yet - but EA’s Battlefield 2142 is allready doing this. They place them on one of the many ingame billboards:

BTW: Some people have already accused this for being spyware.
For my part I think in-game advertisement is a good idea - as long as it is done right. Like product placements in movies. If it fits the theme of the movie, then it can enhance it. But, if it is overdone or out of place then it is bad.

From a business perspective it makes perfect sense, if it is done correctly. No matter how you look at it from a player’s point of view though, this is just another annoying way for advertisers to bother you through something you like to do.
