QVC and Dell Support Call
I was flipping through the channels and noticed that QVC was selling Dell computers. If you’re curious, it was the E-01510 (Dell 2.53 GHz Celeron, 3 Yr Warranty, 80GB drive, 1GB RAM, DVD player, etc.).
The QVC hosts took a call, which they do from time to time. The woman calling was very pleasant and the hosts asked her a couple of questions. Without hestitation, the caller made a point that she was having support issues with her Dell computer. The hosts were clearly caught off guard and quickly tried to shut the caller down. The caller made the point that Dell support is terrible and that she’s been waiting for help for days. It was really amusing.
The QVC hosts made the point that they offer a full 3 year warranty, which I don’t think is Dell support. Maybe I’m wrong on that point…
Memorable quotes:
- “Make sure your memories are protected.”
- “Why use language that your mother never taught you?”
- “This is a great system for film editing.”
- “80GB is more than you’ll ever need.”
- “The support technicians try to speak in your language. Not techie.”
- “Unless someone in your home is a computer whiz, how can you get it fixed?”
- “I have some serious karma with computers.”

Actual quotes heard after posting:
“If you download everything from NASA maybe you’ll fill up this 120GB drive.”
“More memory than you’ll ever need.”
“Media direct button. Coolest thing ever.”

I think I liked “Make sure your memories are protected.” the best. It’s got “all time classic” potential.

Just proves rule #1 about sales: You don’t need to know the product in order to be able to sell the product.
My stepfather sold Cadillacs for almost his entire adult life, and to this day has absolutely no clue about anything mechanical. People would ask him details about the engine and he would say “It’s a good GM engine, made in America. Now, let’s see how you look behind the wheel!”

Dell support sucks!
I believe that Dell deceive customers by advertising “next business day support” service. It is newer next day. I am considering class action against Dell. If you are interested to join please email at class.action.against.dell@gmail.com

I have a brother that worked for QVC for 11 years. Dell customer service is outside the United States. They are having some legal issues to there claims of good tech support. Of coure I was told QVC is trying to keep this from the customers. They do this alot!!!!
