I totally agree with Nick. If there were no advertisments for this vehicle prior to it being launched, then people would not anticipate the vehicle. I think pre-launch advertisements are necessary for any forms of adverstisements or sales.

This vhicles buzz is a powerfull form of advertisment, its essential to a products successful launch. Throughout the history of man product launches there is always a buzz created prior to release. Many Cd's with famous artists puposfully create music videos months prior to actually releasing their album in order to create this buzz and spark word of mouth advertising which is one of the most powerful methods of promotion. Sony's Playstation and playstation 2 used the same princibles. In order to realize that the commercial is tailored for you but does not nessisarily have your name on it you have to look deeper into the reasons/benifits of promoting a product without actually having the product for sale. Im sure this multimillion dollar company would have a meathod to their madness. The commercial is pretty catchy though, but if i hadnt just bought a new car, i might be in the same boat as you are.I understand where you are coming from.

I understand your point, but you don't understand the car business. With new vehicles, that means hype, and lots of it. Another thing is distribution--new vehicles are always being touted as coming out in a certain season and are notoriously late (They don't want you buying another vehicle in the meantime). Last, distribution depends on certain dealers and their locations; some get vehicles, some don't at first. Anyways, everybody knows that when new vehicles come out they are scarce at first. Running ads on tv is no different than running a movie trailer months in advance. Besides, you should have researched ONLINE before heading to the dealer!
