  It is an interesting concept, I can see a lot of potential in varies situation – but not as a desktop or file replacement.

  There are two problems.

  1: Scalability: It sure looks easy when you are just pushing 10-50 items around. There is a lot of space and it really seems powerful. But, I got close to 100,000 files on my computer. Trying organizing that by pushing it around.

  2: The entire concept of using files has been flawed ever since it was invented. A file can by design only be placed in one location at the time. But, information (the content) may be related to any number of locations.

  We do not need another desktop metaphor. We need a multi-location-no-files-tagging-content-storage-metaphor (whatever that is :O)).

  Actually, I think this is only useful for moving files and browsing through files. As for finding files, I don’t think anything will beat the combination of searching and tagging. I also think the BumpTop concept could be useful for other desktop-like spaces in which you would be handling multiple documents at once, like in Photoshop, Dreamweaver, or MS Office… and perhaps even replacing browser tabs :P?
