One might ask: why require the email to access the report? Do you want to not make it available to outside linkers and rather only available to people who read this entry?
Good question!
First, I would like people to visit WebWord to get the report, although it is entirely possible to pass along the email address or even the link to download directly.
Second, and more importantly, I’d like to know who is getting the report. For a long time, I wrote a newsletter and I might kick that off again. (!)
Third, this method gives me a very good count of people making the request.
Fourth, I might want to touch base with the folks getting the report so that I can get feedback, which means I can make improvements. Kaizen!
Finally, I actually want there to be a little extra effort to get the report. The hurdle let’s me know folks *really* want the report. This is a usability web site. Isn’t that last comment ironic?
