Option One

Wow. There was huge demand for a free copy of The 7 Steps That Guarantee Victory on Large Projects. It blew out my email! MadMan saved me, bless his heart.

Option Two

Like an idiot, I decided to send personalized notes to each and every person making a request for The 7 Steps That Guarantee Victory on Large Projects. That means that I repeatedly sent out a 300k PDF, which clogged up my web mail service. I’ll readily admit that I violated the memory limit but (insert “technology stinks!” rant here). MadMan saved me, bless his heart.

Option One is pleasant and positive. It gets to the point (i.e., email broke, ouch) but there aren’t sharp edges. It has a “slick” feel to it. Option Two is negative. It wanders and there isn’t much extra useful information.

So, how do you communicate and what does it say about your personality and outlook on life. Option One and Option Two provide roughly the same information but the tone difference is apparent. What do want to say, but also, how do you want people to perceive you? I strongly feel that tone is just as important as content, especially from a reputation management point of view.

By the way, the window of opportunity for a free copy of The 7 Steps That Guarantee Victory on Large Projects has officially closed. It has been over 24 hours, so you can’t use the “I’m in a different time zone!” excuse. ;-)

In all seriousness, there really was a lot more demand than I expected. I’m having a vision of report publishing in my future…!

Oh, and for those folks that have already provided feedback: Awesome! Keep it coming. It is extremely useful. What you say will have an impact; revisions to the report will be made.
