Left, Right, Top, Bottom Navigation?
Does it matter? Do users care? Any worthy research?
Conclusions: (1) Top left is probably best although the research seems to indicate that it doesn’t really matter. (2) Consistency from page to page is a good thing.

That is not true. Top nav shows to be the least successful whereas Left or Right shows the roughly comparable results according to Kingsburg, J.R. and Andre, A.D.
