One of the most important effects of having a blog is the improving of your thinking, research, networking, writing and debating skills.

You don't give up because it takes a lot of work to "write a perfect post".

You keep at it, and in from 2 to 6 years, your blog, and all other writing, will flow majestically, triumphantly, eerily, as naturally as breathing. It will no longer, and will never again be, difficult.

Be keep trying at it!

Very true John... I started my own personal blog (blog.tws.name) late last year. I wanted to write about stuff that upset me related things happening in Denmark (where I live) - But I made a couple of mistakes:

1. Wanting total world domination I wrote the blog in English, whereas the target audience was Danish-speaking.

3. I am a perfectionist, and hence I want to write perfect posts. So I did not realize that I just embarked on a very time consuming mission (If I was to keep the posts coming on a regular basis).

4. I lost interest in posting very quickly (as you can see by my latest post there)... This was partly due to another blog I started with a colleague of mine: http://justaddwater.dk/

It is my feeling that it is very important to write for yourself. You must be happy with your own stuff first. If you're lucky, others will find your words valuable.
