Microformats?

Have I been in a cave? What is this microformat business? What do you know about it? Do we care about it in terms of usability? Man, I am getting behind in the blogosphere, memeverse, and the 7th dimension.

Looked at the references. Appears to me to be another attempt to standardize data. “If only everyone would format their data my way, things would be better.” See EDI, Rosettanet, etc. Tries to do it in small chunks. Won’t make any difference until the big standard packages implement them. Example: Microsoft uses vcard for address interchange, the microformat web page proposes another thing. Good luck. In two years this won’t have made any difference to anyone in the real world and will be history.
