Brilliant Books (Understanding Comics and Rich Dad, Poor Dad)
Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud is, without any doubt, the best book I’ve ever read on the topic of comic books. It is a masterpiece.
Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki is also an excellent book. While most people would call it a book on personal finance I would call it a book on the philosophy of money, with an emphasis on personal finance. Kiyosaki explains how to think about money and how to use it. Most books in this genre spend too much time talking about how to accumulate money.

Understanding Comics is also a great book on design in general. I can’t find my copy anywhere, so I might have to get it again. I am sure Scott wouldn’t mind that.

John you aught to check out Will Eisners books on the subject, he being the father of the modern comic book.
Here’s a link

I don’t understand why Scott McCloud gets all the credit, Eisner wrote the book first.

Valid point, and I do think Eisner is a genius, but I like McCloud’s book better. I also think McCloud does a fair job giving Eisner credit where credit is due.

I agree that Rich Dad Poor Dad is more about the “philosophy of money”. I have to say that book completely changed the way I look at money. It’s 180 degrees from what most people are led to believe as they grow up. I recommend it to everyone. I think it should be required reading in high schools.

I have just purchased the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad. I cannot believe how good of a book it is! It has so many valuable things to learn, and I am so glad to be learning all of this at the age of 21. I could care less what negative reviews this book has received. I go with my own instincts and have decided to continue reading the book. There is just so much we do not learn in school that we have to later read in books, but I’m glad to be doing it now. Besides, who really wants to be in the “rat race” all of their life?
