Oristus Internship Position (PHP / SQL Developer)
Overview: Are you a talented programmer interested in getting experience with a usability organization? Do you know PHP, SQL, CSS, and HTML? We’re building a new web site and we need help with the code and the database.
Project Timeline: The project will start immediately after finding the right developer. The completion date is approximately 22-November-2004, but that will change depending on our talent search. It should take 4-6 weeks to get this done, if our estimates are accurate.
Location: Anywhere as long as you have broadband access, a cell phone, email, and instant messenger.
Details: If you know PHP and SQL this shouldn’t be anything too difficult. About 90% of the requirements, design, and analysis are complete. Rough templates are available. We need critical thinking, logical analysis, and code! We need a registration system (username, password, password recovery), an account management system (file upload, file delete), RSS feed, search mechanism, PayPal integration, and a little bit more. Users will search for stuff, pay for it, and download it. The database is pretty flat; not complex.
Compensation: Based on ability to produce results. At a minimum, you will gain experience working with the Oristus usability team. Assuming you produce excellent results, we’ll provide an outstanding reference for you. Financial compensation is available for highly qualified candidates. (More than beer money but less than a trip to Europe.) Depending on the success of the project, you could become an employee of the organization.
Experience: We care about your ability to produce results using PHP and SQL. Other technology might be considered, but you’d have to make a good case to us. We value communication, loyalty and honesty. You must be able to work within a timeline, under a reasonable level of supervision. (We’re here to help!) Your feedback matters and you will definitely have the opportunity to drive the direction of the site.
How to apply: Send you resume along with a statement of interest to John S. Rhodes (john@webword.com) with “Oristus Internship Position” in the subject line of the email. By the way, why do you want to work with Oristus? What do you expect to gain? Say something amazing! Please provide two references. We want to make sure that you are not a flying monkey.
