It is probably just me, but I think it would be interesting to post a job opening and require those who are interested in the position to post their cover letter and link to resume (or resulog) in the comments of the post.

The company would do their initial pass on qualified applicants by looking through the comments, and those who post comments can see what the competition is like.

I think it would be nice to have a bit more transparency in the whole process, but again that's probbaly
just me.

Damn, that is strange. It is a variation on something I've been thinking about for a while. It fits into some of concepts outlined in the Open Company Manifesto:

http://webword.com/moving/opencompany.html

Maybe we should investigate this seriously. Set up a blog with job postings and ask people to comment with their resumes and cover letters. Nice. Also, talk about the job posting itself. Why it is good, why it is bad. Etc.

You, John, are a mind reader. I am actually in the process of doing a post for Business Logs (I won't link because I am not trying to pimp here. Yes, I did just use the word "pimp." In my post I am writing about why I redid my rez in blog format, and what I think it could mean for companies around the world in looking for the most up-to-date talent.

And it is on the table as an idea for our company to work on... and has been for a while now. :)

This is also something I think the companies posting the job announcements would be interested in. If not you (as in you companies out there) should be.

And now I am pimping... On the right column of my site is a section called "Why a blog?" where I briefly detail my choice to do so.
