MadMan’s Amazing Bangalore Restaurant: Shiok

I’ve been in Bangalore for about five days and I have had the opportunity to see MadMan (Madhu Menon) twice now. The first night we met in Shiok, his outstanding thai and far-eastern restaurant. The place is amazing. I felt like someone dropped me into a posh restaurant in New York City. Incredible ambiance, great service, and truly wonderful food. In fact, the best food I have had in Bangalore has been MadMan’s. I’m not just saying this because he is my friend. My taste buds are still thanking me. If you have a chance to visit, do it.

MadMan was telling me that he applied “experience design” to his restaurant. In effect, he applied usability to his place. The arrangement of furniture, the lighting, the type of service, the menu, and so much more, have been crafted with his customers in mind. Trust me, his love and attention to Shiok is quite evident. It is great to see people apply usability to what they care about.

If I can figure out a way to get my company to send me to India, I will definitely go. Which is to say I will have to limit myself to just wishing I could go.
