Alamo Gained $5.52 But Lost a Customer

On a recent trip, I rented a car through Alamo. In the agreement, there was a line that said something like, if the gas tank isn’t full, we’ll charge you $5.52 per gallon to fill it. Well, I used the car for about 5 days and my trip was over. I left the hotel, filled the tank up shortly after leaving, and I drove straight to the airport. The drive was at most 15 miles. Mind you, I was driving a car that gets about 35 miles to the gallon.

    I’ll avoid them too… the last time I rented a car it was from Enterprise and they simply mark on the rental form an approximate level of fuel in the tank (about 5/8th when I picked up the car). When I returned it I was close to 5/8th and they didn’t say a thing.
