SUMMARY: Portable software usability lab Survey (CHI-WEB) -- "Oddly enough, the biggest issue identified by survey participants was the usability of the portable labs. Most of you found them difficult to use, set-up, carry, etc. Other issues included: extra set-time required, intimidating to users, clunky logging software, video capture software is not dependable, systems are bulky, systems are error prone, expensive, complex, breakdown easily, windows based bias - need Mac & Linux, critical parts missing from package, cables to easy to mis-connect, microphone positioning is difficult, camera angle difficult to get, audio and video of poor quality, not enough external display devices, not really portable, difficult to pack/unpack and not enough value gained in lab testing." (Comments: Excellent summary!)
