Protect our children - put up mobile phone prices -- "Mobile phone companies are being urged to hike up the costs of running a mobile phone in the hope that it will discourage children from using them, amid fears that they may be hazardous to the user's health." (Comments: Very short article.)

It boils down to the values that are taught to today's children. A lot has to do with children's marketing machine. Read http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/cool/. There are some countries that bans marketing to children. Consequently, the children in these countries grow up to have a better balance of values.

The prices have already been put up once - when the telco's realised it was SMS that the kids were after and that it was costing them (the telco's) a packet. That didn't stop anything, it didn't even slow it down. If the problem is radiation, then you have to put the price up so high that the kids can't even afford to carry the phones (which BTW, they already own), let alone use them. It is too late. The cat is out of the bag.

Not such a great idea -- there are many tales of outrageous phone bills being run up by teens already. Increasing the costs won't change that.
