Fly on the Wall (IBM) -- "The "Fly on the Wall" (FOTW) technique is a low-cost, low-overhead method of collecting valid customer data. The method is illustrated here through a pilot study that used first-hand, unobtrusive observations by UCD practitioners to collect valid customer data in a timely, cost-effective manner in collaboration with development and marketing staff." (Comments: This technique seems kind of lame. I read through the methodology a few times and basically all you do is watch people as they listen to presentations. If you have any experience with this technique, tell us about it. Post a comment please.)
