Comments on The Usability of Usability (Spool on CHI-WEB) -- "But what we actually have found so far is this: those best practices don't produce the most usable sites. While our data is still preliminary, and I wouldn't go to the bank on its reliability, it is starting to paint a fairly clear picture: if you follow the "best practices", you won't produce as good a site as some of the sites that didn't follow those practices." (Comments: Jared Spool makes some interesting comments, based on the WebWord interview I conducted with him a few days ago. It is an excellent posting and I strongly recommend that you read it. Note: Chad Singer has some interesting things to say on this topic too. Read his posting.)
